I stumbled across your blog via Google today. I've been trying to reload my Pundit-R with Windows XP after running FC3 for about 14 months - doing some at-home repurposing.
I don't know if you ever figured out the solution to getting XP to boot from the install CD properly. You need to disable BIOS IDE Bus Mastering. That seems to solve the boot problem.
Its weird. FC3 & Ubuntu Breezy boot & install fine without that adjustment, but as you wrote, other Linuxes just won't. Must be a kernel thing.
